I have a library for creating application event logs formatted as key-value pairs. It allows the caller to create arbitrary keys to include some attribute into the logging event. What is the maximum length that Splunk will accept so I can configure the logger interface to match it?
I just tried to create a very long field name. And 15,000 characters as a field name is easily possible. I don't think you need more as your browser will most likely be very slow at that point displaying the field.
