i'm on a new win8 dell XPS laptop. Win8, x64. I'm trying to install splunk 5.0.1-143156 both the x32 and x64; neither install. I don't see any specific errors in the install window, it just takes forever to time out. any suggestions? thank you.
I'm in the same situation. You can see ISSetAllUsers in error window.
When splunk install, Win 8 can't seem to extract temporary files in AllUsers directory,
As for me, I enabled guest account, and installed splunk guest user account at login.
the loading bar does not make progress. i left the laptop alone for 1 hr and then it said timeout error. unfortunately i did not see a more detailed error message
When you say timeout, where is it timing out? Is it when the setup is loading, does the loading bar even show or does it just appear to do nothing when you try to run the install?
