Why does the Splunk 6.5 Overview app still exist in version 7.1.2?

Hi All,

Today I have upgraded Splunk version from 6.5.3 to 7.1.2 in my lab environment and found that Splunk 6.5 Overview app still exists in spite overwriting with new version overview app. Similar to that dashboard examples app of 6.x rather than 7.x. Is it expected in new version or did I mess up somewhere? Thanks in advance.

Hi, just to confirm, is this the sequence?

1. Upgrade Splunk Enterprise 6.5.3 to 7.1.2.
2. Install Splunk 7.1 Overview app.
3. Install Splunk Dashboard Examples 7.1.0.
4. Only the 6.5 Overview app and the 6.6 Dashboard Examples appear.

I just did 1st step. I didn't install Splunk 7.1 overview and Dashboard apps.

Well, if you did not install the newer version of the apps, then you will not have the newer versions of the apps. You can download them here:

• Splunk Dashboard Examples
