SSL error using old Splunk mobile app after upgrade to Splunk 8.1.4

I have Splunk 7.3.3 and am using the wonderful old Android Splunk mobile app to access dashboards. I'm using the original Splunk certs and have been using it for years.

I upgraded to Splunk 8.1.4 this morning and now the mobile app cannot connect to the server anymore.

I get the following error in splunkd.log

WARN HttpListener - Socket error from X.X.X.X:Y while idling: error:1407609C:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:http request

and the app says sign in failed.

I tried updating the certs with new self signed certs, but the same problem.

The old app is very important, as the new mobile app is not really useable - no drilldown and other issues, so wonder if anyone knows what the change to 8.1.4 might have brought SSLwise...

Thanks
