unable to install Splunk 8.01. pkg on Mac OS. The pop up message states that it "can't be opened because Apple cannot check if malicious software"
You can get the 8.0.1.pkg file installed by doing the following. Open the installer and get the error message on the screen. Go to the Mac System Preferences - Security & Privacy. Under the General Tab, Click the lock icon in the lower left hand corner and enter your credentials. This will unlock the ability to install the package. Click on the OK button in the installer and you’ll see the Security & Privacy (General) screen change and the Open Anyway for the Splunk PKG file will then be enabled. Click on the Open Anyway and you’re good to go. Once complete, make sure your click on the lock icon again to protect your system again. ,
After I click "Open Anyway" the installer comes up again still with error message but now with an open to "open". When I click "open" nothing happens. Running Mac OS Catalina 10.15.3

Hi @jsterlin apologies for not accepting sooner and thanks for responding so quickly. I haven’t tried your suggestion as my Mac packed up and my splunk life came to a halt but nevertheless I should have acknowledged your help. Woodcock thanks for the reminder of the proper etiquette here. Thanks both for taking the time.
I followed his answer and it worked.
Another option is to use tar.gz package to install it to macOS (an other). At least I have needs to use multiple local instances t8me by time (e.g. different Clients or testing apps).

Hi Daramjan,
Which MacOS version you are using? With MacOS Catalina, the issue is there. It wont allow to install new third party softwares (which are unidentified developer). I had the same issue and rolled back to Mojave version.
8.0.1 runs fine on my MacOS Mojave.
If you are already using Mojave, check the below article,

The last solution is, instead of using .dmg
installation, try to install via source package .tgz
.
Convert it to answer and accept if it helps.
