How can I update my new license on my Splunk instance?

I have installed a new license because mine was expired and it is like I am working with the old one.

My new license is valid , how can I have my new license in splunk ?

Hi @isabellechristophe,
How many hard warnings does your license master shows?
If there are more than 5 warnings then you will have to contact person who sold splunk license and if your splunk version is higher than 6.5.0 you can also ask for no-enforcement key with it's help your splunk service won't stop even if you have crossed 5 hard warnings for your license.

Because you got more then 5 warnings your Splunk instance got locked.
Please contact the person who sold you the new licence and ask for a Reset Key

try to go to settings > Licensing
At the end you should see "Warning count"
What's the number there?

Are you running a distributed environment, or a single Splunk server?
If distributed, on which server did you update the licence?

@isabellechristophe, there are couple of ways to load license in Splunk:
1) Browse to License File and upload.
2) Copy paste XML directly from new License.

Which one are you trying? Are you aware of any Splunk Error/s while uploading new license?

no error appear, and my license seems available but if I want to launch a search it said me an error

have you had more then 5 days over the limit before you installed the new licence? so you had more then 5 violations?
Then you need a reset key.

reset key --> from the person/partner you got your new licence
