Using free splunk enterprise if that helps, cannot add new apps and keep getting this error is there a way to circumvent this?
I want to add a syslog server for cisco devices but need the add on.

"No route to host" generally means that DNS can't resolve or a firewall is blocking access.
Check your DNS configuration at /etc/resolv.conf
Test DNS resolution with nslookup:
nslookup google.com
Check for firewall rules that may be blocking you:
iptables -L

Thanks this solved my problem, you can just download the apps from splunkbase to your pc and upload it to your server via the GUI from your PC
