what is data input named "Mail Server" and how it works??

does it read a mail box and show it's mails as events on splunk ?how to configure it for imap or pop3 to work ,e.g. a hotmail account.

There is no Data input called "Mail Server" in an out of the box installation of Splunk.
There must be an app installed that created this input. Right?

dear ,you may be right,but im working on a production version of splunk enterprise and i'n not prestaged it or installed it other that that,so im not sure at the moment.
