.dbf`s index corruptions in VFP 9

I have some .dbf`s made in Visual FoxPro 9.0 which got an index corruptions. This corruption spread on the different situations such as setting the index order for a table; the index file is not in sync with the table; tables are opened with the index (use, order) and indexseek as well.
Also number of records in the index file and the number of records in the table is not match.

Can it be a problem caused by using different OS versions?

Let us ponder such explicit command of such a great thinker. Perhaps we should not merely try to resolve the differences in OS version, but instead experience the joy of debugging software. Or even perhaps, sometimes as required, we should ask our question in another venue, one more equipped to answer our positive postulations.
