I see in the docs for inputs.conf that a monitor with
/foo/m*r/bar will match /foo/bar
Can someone explain why that would be the case? The way I would have thought this to work is that there would need to be some directory in foo that starts with the character m and ends with the character r (and have any characters in between), and then that directory contains a directory bar.
It makes sense why it would match /foo/mr/bar, /foo/mir/bar, or /foo/moor/bar.
Thanks
Thank you for reporting this issue. This is indeed an incorrect example and it will be removed from the inputs.conf.spec file in a future maintenance release.
Looks like its wrong as I also tried to read file monitor://C:/\Users/\Admin/\Desktop/\m*r/\test5 but splunk not reading file monitor://C:/\Users/\Admin/\Desktop/\test5
