Getting Data In

Why am I getting error "Failed to tarAndChksum file='/apps/splunk/splunk/etc/deployment-apps/...'" when I try to add apps to a server class?

Hi,

When I am in a server class and I try to add applications, I get the following error message:

Failed to tarAndChksum file='/apps/splunk/splunk/etc/deployment-apps/...'

All rights to directories and subdirectories are correct.
The "deployment-apps" directory is a link to the "apps" directory.

Thanks for your help.

I recreated an apps + deployment-apps directory.
But when I create a server class, I always get the same error message

Failed to tarAndChksum file='/apps/splunk/splunk/etc/deployment-apps/...'

"The "deployment-apps" directory is a link to the "apps" directory." ---> this is why: apps are updated with local metadata and other local settings. deployment-apps are for distributing. These should not be shared.

How do the apps replicate from the deployment server to the search head ?
