Getting Data In

What happens if you specify two paths in a volume in indexes.conf?

What happens if you specify two paths in a volume in indexes.conf? For example:

[volume:example]
path = /opt/splunk/examplevolume
path = /opt/splunk/var/lib/splunk
maxVolumeDataSizeMB = 400000

Does splunk send the data to each location, does it split it up across the two paths or does it choose one?

Cheers

Hi Robbie1194,
I didn't tried but I think that you'll have an error at Splunk boot and anyway Splunk uses only one location for indexes!
The only think that you can do it's to use different paths between hot/warm buckets and cold buckets.
Bye.
