Splunk HTTP Event Collecter Spring Boot Log4j2 Causing Application to hang

I have a Spring Boot Application using an HTTP Event Collector to send logs to splunk using a Log4j2 Appender. https://github.com/splunk/splunk-library-javalogging/blob/master/src/main/java/com/splunk/logging/Ht... This appender is causing my application to hang and not terminate, after application is finished.
