How to deploy a single configuration file, not the whole app from a deployment server?

Instead of deploying the whole app, I want to deploy only one configuration under XXXX application.

If I use ./splunk reload deploy-server, it will deploy the whole XXXX application, I only want to deploy inputs.conf file of XXXX application.

You cannot distribute a single file from an app. You will need to create a new app that only contains the inputs.conf you want to deploy. This is because Splunk distributes a bundle, it packages the whole app folder structure.
