Getting Data In

Can we specify files in archive to be collected?

Explorer

I couldn't find a clear guideline of doing this.
Simply, can we specify monitor path deep inside archive?

e.g.
[monitor:///tmp/.gz:/archive/.xml]

I want UF get the files directly instead of passing entire archive file to indexer and do nullQueue routing.

Hi philip_w,
did you already see this document?
http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/7.1.3/Data/Getstartedwithgettingdatain

Anyway I cannot correctly see the command you used, please put the monitor stanza in Code Sample, clicking on the button 101010.

Anyway, you can put in the monitor stanza the files or the directory you want:

[monitor:///tmp/*.gz]
...
[monitor:///archive/*.xml]
...

and then filter files using blacklist and whitelist options.

Bye.
Giuseppe

Hi @philip_w,

As far as I know you can't monitor selected file from archived(zipped) path.
