Deployment Architecture

Why are Dashboards in Search head getting deleted whenever Deployment server is restarted?

We use a distributed architecture where all apps and indexes are deployed through Deployment Server, using forwarder management.
Dashboards are created in Search Head, but the dashboards are not syncing with DS, ie not coming up in the deployment-apps folder within a particular app.
Whenever we restart the DS , the dashboards are getting deleted from the search head.
Please suggest any solution to solve the syncing issue.

Splunk's nativ deployment process using a Deployment Server is not a syncing process, more a delete and push whats on the DS. So if you edit the dashboards in the apps on the search head, rather than the apps on the DS, you will loose all progress.

Better to set up a repository that is synchronized with DS and develop on the repository, instead on the machines itself. Hope I could clear your understanding of Splunks deployment process.
