how can I get Splunk index daily data volume size for a specific index?
thanks,
Try this to get license usage in GB for your index(run on License Server, can run on search heads if you forward your license server internal logs to your indexers)
index=_internal sourcetype=splunkd component=LicenseUsage idx="YourIndexHere"
| timechart span=1d sum(b) as Usage | eval Usage=round(Usage/1024/1024/1024,2)
This query also gives desired output
index="_internal" source="*metrics.log" per_index_thruput series="idxname"
| bin _time span=1d
| eval GB=kb/(1024*1024)
| stats sum(GB) as total by series _time
When I use above query and compare its output with query mentioned in first answer I see a small variation in results.
May be an expert can advice on this.

I have one question I can get same using below query:
index="_internal" source="*metrics.log" per_index_thruput series="idxname"
| bin _time span=1d
| eval GB=kb/(1024*1024)
| stats sum(GB) as total by series _time

Should both results not match?
I used this query for getting daily data ingest
index=_internal source="/opt/splunk/var/log/splunk/license_usage.log" type=Usage | eval GB = b/1024/1024/1024 |timechart span=1d sum(GB)
