please elaborate i find your question very broad and hard to understand.
where are you changing sourcetype value in your dashboard? sourcetype is related to data itself, if both dashboard have a query with sourcetype=a and you modify the value a to b you will have to change on both. also most props and transforms are based on sourcetype, if the sourcetype is changed, field extractions and other knowledge objects configuration might not apply anymore.
what changed? what is the problem you are trying to solve?

when i click the edit on the dashboard in the xml code if we are chaging the sourcetype there it even changing in the other test and dev dashboards also. I have 3 dashboards dev prod and qa where sourcetype in each dashboard has to be different but when i change in one dashboard it changes every where
