Hi,

I'm bit confused with searchmanager. Can we create a searchmanager using search and use it for further processing?

Like., create a searchmanager in a simple xml and use it in other panels? If yes, please suggest on how to do so.

Thanks in advance
Allan

Hi @allan_newton,
I'm a tech writer here at Splunk and I'd like to help. It looks like search managers manage inline searches, but according to this documentation, SavedSearchManagers can handle a search saved as a report:
http://dev.splunk.com/view/SP-CAAAETM

There are also post-process search managers available. This documentation resource offers details on the different kinds of search managers:
http://dev.splunk.com/view/SP-CAAAEM8

This Simple XML reference also details referring to a search saved as a report within the Simple XML search element:
http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.3.0beta/Viz/PanelreferenceforSimplifiedXML#.3Csearch.3...

I hope this helps! Please let me know either way and we can continue discussing.

All the best,
@frobinson_splunk
