Can I use the Splunk Javascript SDK within Splunk?

caseyra

Hello,

I'm trying to develop a custom form within Splunk for our client and I'm trying to use the Splunk JavaScript SDK to access, for example, the list of saved searches. However, I can't seem to get this to work. Accessing the object gives me a "UNDEFINED FUNCTION - OVERRIDE REQUIRED" error in the JS console. I'm suspecting that this may be because I'm not providing a username/password, which I was hoping I wouldn't have to do because we don't use password-based authentication. Do I at least need to provide a username? If so, how do I get it? Or is there a better way to interact with Splunk inside of Splunk?

The current use case is the customer wanting a much simpler form for creating a saved search. They have some very non-technical people, so they want it to require the minimal amount of understanding to use.

Thanks.
