Hello,

I am new to Splunk, and web/programming in general.

My question is can 3rd party web/Java/html based controls from DevEx, Grape City,or Telerik be added to enhance the the dashboards and or add additional options.

Thank you for your help.

Hi @Skye,

yes but you have to manually integrate them:

  • scheduled a script that tuns one by one these tools,
  • write answers in a file,
  • read this file using Splunk,
  • parse and write in an index them,
  • use the parsed logs in your dashbords.

Ciao.

Are there any examples we could use to get started?

Hi @Skye,

it's difficoult, because I didn't integrate these data sources and there isn't any existing Add-On.

You have to follow the above steps:

  • schedule a script that runs one by one these tools:
    • using the APIs of each Data Source, you should be able to extract a report with all the contents you need,
    • I cannot help you, because I don't know these tools and I don't know which language you prefer (Python, Shell, etc...),
  • write answers in a file:
  • read this file using Splunk:
    • if you don't use a Modular Input, you have to read the file using a normal file input,
  • parse and write in an index them,
  • use the parsed logs in your dashbords.

A I said, I cannot help you more because I don't know these tools.

Ciao.

Giuseppe
