delays - grabbing data from storage table

I have amended the frequency at which we collect data from azure table storage to every 300s (5mins) but sometimes no data is seen for over and hour at which point the data is 'backfilled' to present time.

Is this a feature of azure table storage in that it doesn't write to table storage that frequently ?
