I'm running Splunk 4.2.5 (113966) on an Ubuntu server 11.10. I had already installed the App for Windows and saw that there was an update, so I went ahead and installed it. Now it won't run at all. Two small windows pop up; one says it hasn't been configured yet and the other is completely blank. I can exit out of them but then there's nothing to see. What am I doing wrong?

This is a known issue when you are running the Windows App in a Unix or Linux environment. See http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/WindowsApp/latest/User/Releasenotes. "Under certain conditions, multiple modal dialogs that contain erroneous (such as 'Unsupported configuration') or no information are displayed. You might see these dialogs appear if you install the full Windows app on an instance that already has the TA installed, or if you install the latest app on a Splunk instance running on *nix. To work around the problem, install the previous version of the app."
