Splunk Add-on for Microsoft Cloud Services: Why am I unable to upload a self-signed certificate?

Motivator

link textAnyone having issues with trying to upload a self-signed cert for this add-on?

I generated a self-signed cert, and when I upload the file, I get the following message:

Selected file is an invalid file. Please choose the right certificate file, which should be a Base64-encoded X.509 Certificate and end with ".cer".

My self-signed cert filename ends in .cer so not sure what the issue is.

Thx

This issue is mostly like a file related or browser related issue.
As a quick suggestion:
Is it possible for you to share the public cert with us? Just the public certificate file is enough (definitely no need the key file).

I ended up generating an automatic cert and that's working for me

Glad to heard that,
If not mind,

Please try to use this link to test the file type of the cert file that not working:
https://jsfiddle.net/n2c1n6u8/

If the uploaded file type does not match “x-x509-ca-cert”, it will give the validation error message.
Would you please paste the cert and let us know the results? 🙂

I uploaded my .cer and it says:

File Type:
application/x-x509-ca-cert

great, may i know the browser and version are you using? Thanks!
BTW, Would you mind to share your public cert file? (cause it's public cert, maybe it's not so sensitive to you), then it will be very helpful for us to understand the root cause. forget it if you have any concern.

thanks, that's very helpful.
i just tried your uploaded cert with firefox 46.0 or chrome latest with the Add-on, it seems the add-on works well and there's no errors as reported by you.
probably an issue with your env. would you mind to reproduce the issue to take a screenshot of the problem, that would be very helpful.
You just need to select the file in your env to reproduce it, and take a full screenshot- better to zoom in the page to take a whole screenshot, no need to submit it for real, suppose this won't impact any of your configurations)

Hi,
How did you generate the certificate. Did you use openssl?
