Does the Microsoft Cloud Services add-on support MSAL? We're currently using it to collect resource logs from Azure, but the application we're using still uses ADAL which is no longer supported and may stop working. We'll need to migrate the azure app to MSAL, but I don't see anything in the add-ons documentation mentioning ADAL or MSAL or their support?
I am wondering if the add-on cares how we create the application in Azure? Or can we use the new MSAL app in place of the ADAL one with no issues?
Thanks. I will continue to look into this, and once I know for sure I will reply back to this thread with my findings.
Hi @pbarbuto
I dont know the ins and outs of the differences on the Azure side for the two, however there is a 3rd party library doc (https://splunk.github.io/splunk-add-on-for-microsoft-cloud-services/thirdpartycredits/MSCS%20TA%205....) which lists the Python MSAL library and has done for many recent versions and that combined with the expired support for ADAL and this app being Splunk supported I would expect the auth would work with MSAL.
For formal confirmation I believe you should be able to request a support ticket and Splunk internal teams should be able to confirm.
