Is there a way to preserve inputs wiped out by Microsoft azure add on for Splunk?

Microsoft Azure Add on for Splunk upgrading via deployment server wipes out all the inputs. Is there a way to preserve them? I always take a backup of the inputs and re-add but then you lose the look back period.
