Is Splunk Hadoop Connect app on Splunkbase only compatible up to Splunk version 6.5?

The Splunk Hadoop Connect app on Splunkbase indicates that it is only compatible with up to version 6.5. Has anyone been able to use it with Splunk 7.x? If so were there any issues? If not is there a comparable alternative?

Based on my test, Splunk Hadoop connect worked without any issues on Splunk 7.*
