How to export search output to Excel?

Splunk provides the CSV, XML, JSON and raw output formats for exporting the search results. I have installed the 'Excel_Export' app in my installation.

But, I am unable to locate the XLS option when I try to export the search options. Please let me know if I am missing a step here.

Thank you

Splunk for Excel Export does not integrate with the existing pages in Splunk. Rather there is a new page called flashtimeline_excel that ships with the app that includes a button to export results to excel.

specifically, any app you can use the link:

http://splunk_server:8000/en-US/app/search/flashtimeline_excel

flashtimeline_excel view is shared globally to provide you access.

Hi,

what is your purpose to use it with Excel? Usually CSV Export is fine to open with Excel. You can even automatize those exports with | outputcsv myfile.csv command
