Only discovered Website Monitoring version 2.6 yesterday. I have installed it using the Splunk Web interface. The next step is to set it up, but only the Save Configuration button is active. All of the fields to answer are all grey'd out.
One article I've read says, I was to create a file in $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/website_monitoring/local/inputs.conf, but following the instruction does not help either. I also read the articles previously posted here, but I have yet to find the article that provides me direction to help me complete my set up.
Can someone help?
Sorry for posting response multiple times. I am very new to this.
Hey @msg64, no worries! However, please take a moment to convert your "Answer" to a comment as I think you pressed the "add your answer" text on the right instead of the "Submit" button on the left. The Post Answer box/button at the bottom should only be used while posting an answer to the original question of the main post so as to make the forum answers usable by future users who research similar topics. When responding to a comment stream you can click the small box beneath a post that says "Add your comment..." and then after you write in the content you simply need to press the "Submit" button on the left.
To convert the comment you just need to click on the gear icon to the right of your "answer" post and select "convert to comment". This can be done any time if you accidentally post it wrong. 🙂
Dear @msg64, Please ensure to use the appropriate buttons when adding answers or comments. The Add Comment field can be found below answers and right below your question. As well, if you submit a post and do not see it immediately, please wait a while before re-posting. At times posts are sent to the moderation queue for review. In this case, multiple attempts were sent to our moderation queue. I went ahead and approved the answer, converted it to a comment, and rejected the other attempts.
I just want to follow up if there is a fix to my question yet?
@msg64: I don't have enough information yet to debug this yet.
Could you create an HAR file and send it to my email address (Luke@LukeMurphey.net)? That should help me greatly in debugging this.
Here are instructions for generating an HAR file: https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204410413-Generating-a-HAR-file-for-troubleshooting
And here are instructions for Firefox: https://www.inflectra.com/support/knowledgebase/kb254.aspx
As far as the Configuration window is concern, I do not see any error code. But at the upper right corner of the window, at the same row of the url field, there is a red x that if you click on it, the message says "This page is trying to load scripts from unauthenticated sources."
Can you check the browser console for errors? I suspect the Javascript failed for some reason.
BTW: you can get past the issue by setting the following in $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/website_monitoring/local/app.conf:
[install]
is_configured = 1
Please let me know what error you see though, I want to get that issue fixed if it is a bug.
Did you see a console error in your web browser?
Here is instructions on how to open the error console: https://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/8525/how-do-i-open-the-javascript-console-in-differen...
