Hi All,
How to calculate the splunk license based on the data for example if send 100GB data to splunk after indexed the data how much data i will get in splunk and how much license will require to index the data.
The Splunk indexing license is strictly based on the number of bytes it consumes. So in your scenario, you would eat 100 GB of your Splunk Indexing license.
The amount of file storage resources used after consuming and processing the 100 GB is dependent on many things, namely how much it can compress the raw data and what kind of replication and retention requirements you have. There is no equation that will give you answer because there are too many variables, but it is probably safe to assume it will be less than the raw data size. How much depends on the factors I mentioned.
thanks for your quick response, how much license we would require to index the data.
Whatever amount of bytes you throw at Splunk is how much license you use. So if you throw 100 GB at the indexer, you will eat up 100 GB of your daily license limit.
