Has anyone used the Kafka Messaging Modular Input 1.0 against an older 0.8.1.1 version of Kafka?

Has anyone tried using the latest version of the Kafka Messaging Modular Input (1.0) against an older version of kafka?

Haven't directly looked at it, but I think a better option might be to use NiFi and subscribe to the topics on NiFi, then use the Processor, PutSplunk in conjunction with a heavy forwarder on the same machine.

Thanks for the suggestion - it shows some promise - atleast being able to read the data from kafka. Stuck trying to get Splunk to consume the data - issues related to using SSL. Will provide an update when I get it working
