Per this doc. http://dev.splunk.com/view/basic-tutorial/SP-CAAADQT
There are 3 ways to load the data. File or directory, network port, or directly using the API.
There are a huge variety of ways to add data into Splunk. Here, we'll briefly cover adding data in three ways: by telling splunk to index a file or directory; to index a network port; or to pass the data directly via the API.
How can I load this data directly with the API? The example is missing?
