Hello, the FortiGate app (Fortinet FortiGate App for Splunk | Splunkbase) shows that the latest compatible version is 9.4. Does this mean that I should disable this app prior to upgrading from v9.4 to v10? Or, is there a possibility that it will still work with v10? This is a critical app for us & it would be a shame to lose it.
Thank you
You don’t necessarily need to disable the FortiGate App before upgrading Splunk to v10. The app is officially listed as compatible only up to Splunk v9.4, which means vendor-tested support stops there. However, in practice, many Splunkbase apps continue to function on newer releases even if compatibility hasn’t yet been updated.
So better test it on a test/dev instance(splunk 10) to make sure everything works as expected.

Prewin

The latest version of this app was released before 10.0 was announced and could be as simple that it has not been tested in Splunk 10.0 by the developers.
It does state support for 9.4 though; Python 3.9 is the default interpreter in both 9.4 and 10.0 although 3.7 was still present in 9.4 so in theory this app could be pinned to using Python 3.7, but not usually something Ive seen.
My recommendation would be to try and run the app in a non-production environment and check to see how things go, often I find things just work fine but you can never really know!
