DB_input not visible in Splunk UI

Hi Experts,

I try to automate db_inputs.conf files entries. For this I try to copy DB_inputs.conf file of one env to another env and update its two fields of each stanza (input).
That two fields are:
connection = NewConnection
host = new:host:IP
But the new db_inputs.conf are not visible from Splunk UI.
Please suggest what I need to correct ?
Do I need to make any entry also in /metadata/ local.meta ?

Hi,

If you are using rising column method then copying stanza from one db_inputs.conf to another one will not work because when you create new DB Input based on rising column using GUI, it will automatically create checkpoint file in $SPLUNK_HOME/var/lib/splunk/modinputs/server/splunk_app_db_connect/ however that is not the case while copying db_inputs.conf from one instance to another.

Additionally DB Inputs each stanza require entry in $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/splunk_app_db_connect/metadata/local.meta

There are undocumented REST API for DB Connect app but I'll not suggest to use those because those are not documented and might change from version to version.
