Custom Alert Action UI JQuery

Hi all,

Is there a way to hide/show form elements within a custom alert action using JQuery for example something really simple

$(document).ready(function() {
    $('#item').hide();
    $('#options').change(function(){
        $('#item').show();
     });
});

I'm having trouble searching thru the documentation.
