I keep getting messages that metrics values are indexing as a string: Search peer ip-truncated.us-gov-west-1.compute.internal has the following message: The metric value=70182.320 provided for source=/opt/splunk/var/log/introspection/resource_usage.log, sourcetype=splunk_intro_resource_usage, host=ip-truncated.us-gov-west-1.compute.internal, bucket=/opt/splunk/var/lib/splunk/_metrics/db/219_8E3A1CE4-B758-4960-B23D-96FBAD796ADB is not a floating point value. Using a "numeric" type rather than a "string" type is recommended to avoid indexing inefficiencies. Ensure the metric value is provided as a floating point number and not as a string. Hello I'm trying to reroute certain events as it hits my indexer from a particular source. In the inputs.conf on the UF, the index is set to index=tokens for my source path, but I want to catch certain events from this source and route to a different index at the indexer. So far three events have gotten past my transform and I'm trying to figure out why and what I'm doing wrong. Hello, We are migrating to the cloud and we are using AWS Kinesis to ingest log data from our servers. The Splunk Add-On comes with pre built sourcetypes like aws:firehose:text. Raw data is supposed to feed through this sourcetype however I do not want all of my sourcetypes coming from windows, linux, marklogic etc to read aws:firehose:text as the sourcetype. How do I modify this? Is any documentation out that explains this? The sourcetypes are required since kinesis uses HEC to connect and send data. If I modify the sourcetype at the indexer after it has passed the HEC, will this work? ... View more
