I've been tasked with creating training sessions for new Splunk users in our organization. The training will need to include recorded classes that will be hosted on our SharePoint site. I will also need to produce slides and real life exercises with solutions along with cheatsheets of the commands. I have until 11/15 to make this happen..
Obviously this is a pretty time consuming thing to do and would rather use something that's established as a framework and build something around that rather than developing something from scratch. So my question is, does anyone know of anything I described which can help me meet my deadline?
Here is a checklist:
1: Download the slide deck bundle from .conf 2015 (& 2016 when it is out). It is GREAT stuff and totally free:
http://conf.splunk.com/content/dam/splunk-conf/speakers/conf2015-all-slides.zip
2: Send a request through http://splunk402.com/chat to join the Splunk user groups Slack chat. Join these channels:
#n00bs
#general
3: Find and join a local Splunk User Group. Start coming to the monthly meetings; they are great for learning and networking:
https://usergroups.splunk.com/
4: Take the free training (i.e. Fundamentals 1) from the training poral here:
https://inter.viewcentral.com/events/cust/current_profile.aspx?cid=splunk&pid=1
5: If you are buying anything from Splunk ask your account rep to throw in training credits and .conf passes.
6: Download and install the free "Splunk Enterprise" product on your computer:
https://www.Splunk.com/en_us/download/splunk-enterprise.html
7: Sign up for a free cloud sandbox. Each sandbox expires after 15 days but you can just click a link to regenerate a fresh one:
http://Splunk.force.com/SplunkCloud?prdType=SplunkCloud
8: For a broader perspective on Big Data and the ecosystem surrounding it (including Splunk, Hadoop and many others), you can take this free Coursera course:
https://www.coursera.org/specializations/bigdata
9: Extra text content is available on Splunk Blogs:
http://blogs.Splunk.com/
10: You are already in answers but there is a "Best of Answers" blog called "Smart AnSwerS" that is GREAT:
http://blogs.splunk.com/2014/11/24/smart-answers/
11: Extra video content is available on Splunk's Official Company and SplunkTalk YouTube channels, too.

That sounds like a great initiative to onboard new Splunk users efficiently! Given the time constraints, leveraging existing frameworks and resources is a smart approach. You might want to check out Splunk Education courses, Splunk Docs, and Splunk Lantern, which offer pre-built training materials, use cases, and best practices. Additionally, you can explore Splunk Workload Management and Splunk Fundamentals courses to adapt their content into your training modules.
For structuring your training:
✅ Use Splunk e-learning modules for recorded classes
✅ Customize existing Splunk dashboards for real-world exercises
✅ Compile frequently used Splunk SPL commands into a cheat sheet
✅ Utilize SharePoint integration for seamless content hosting
