As we have different regions in AWS, and different sites in that region, is multi site cluster architecture the same as multi region cluster architecture? Or only multi site cluster is possible as i don't see any document for multi region cluster...?

You can use standard clustering for Splunk within a region, across Availability Zones. You can use multi-site clustering when doing clustering across regions. The limitation is going to be on the cost to do the Inter-region replication which you can look to the aws calculator to determine the cost of replicating data.
