Can Splunk ES (Enterprise Security) work independent of Splunk Enterprise?

Can Splunk ES (Enterprise Security) work independent of Splunk Enterprise? I mean, does one have to have Splunk Enterprise to have ES working? My understanding is that ES complements Splunk Enterprise. Please advise. Thank u in advance.

Splunk ES is a set of Splunk Enterprise apps so, no, ES will not work by itself.
