Adding entity rules to base search cause service kpi’s to be 0

I have a base search that returns a column I utilise to get the sum off it’s values as a metric, this metric is used as a kpi of a service that has entity rules for one field (fieldX), this field matches around 10 entities each having a different value for this field to find matches.

However, within my base search, when I enter fieldX into split by entity, my results, within service analyser and in my glass tables all become 0. When I remove this split by entity(by choosing the option no), the values all begin to work as expected.

i am wondering why it is that splitting by entity causes all my results to return 0, I’ve redone this again and again to the same result.

Check that the box for 'filter entities by' matches the field you are using for entity rules.  The split by is not a filter so you should be able to split by the same field name. For instance if you are filtering entities by 'host' that is the same field you would put into the split field.

What types of metrics are you trying to add?  Make sure that in your base search for per entity you use sum, and for aggregate you use average.

I have my “split by entity” option as yes, the field of ‘user_office’ is in the ‘entity split field’ box, this is the same field used in the services entity rules, and the same one used in the entity alias. I have sun entity calculation and the service aggregate is Average, would filling data gaps cause an error? I’ve done this before in another set up and it worked as intended.
