You would open port 80 and 443 FROM/TO YOUR LAPTOP/MACHINE. This is not the same as internet access from your splunk server, but internet access from the machine you're connecting to the splunk web UI from.

For example...

If I connect to splunk web from my laptop... my laptop must have internet access at that time or I will get the error message.

And you connect directly to the Splunk server without the use of a VPN or MPLS etc?

What do you need Splunk to connect to the internet for? There is the App Store, and there is there is the login page. Other than that, why do you need it to connect outbound?
