How do I authenticate to the Splunk REST API for a Cloud Trial instance?

The documentation indicates opening a support case is necessary but since this is a trial, it is not letting me open a support case without a support contract:

To use the REST API, you must have a paid subscription to Splunk Cloud. The reason is because there are specific credentials necessary.
