State of Splunk Careers 2023: Career Resilience and the Continued Value of Splunk

For the past three years, Splunk has partnered with Enterprise Strategy Group to conduct a survey that gauges the impact that Splunk has had on the careers and livelihoods of its users. This year, 750 members of our incredible Splunk community participated in our annual Career Impact Survey, confirming what we've already known since we began facilitating this report: Using Splunk, learning Splunk, and getting Splunk Certified pays off — literally!

First off, we want to thank each and every one of you who took the time to participate in this year’s survey. Your perspective and insight is crucial and we are so grateful for you all!

The core takeaway from this year’s report is that despite the ever-changing and rather turbulent landscape that is working in tech, knowing Splunk remains an incredibly valuable skill. Knowledge of Splunk, including taking official Splunk Education courses and getting Splunk Certified, helps folks feel more secure in their roles, more comfortable weathering economic conditions outside of their control, and ultimately results in greater compensation and opportunities for advancement.

Splunk Knowledge = Career Resilience

The survey findings made it clear that a strong command over Splunk was seen to positively influence respondents’ career direction, compensation, and opportunities for advancement.

Splunk users with higher proficiency levels were 2.7 times more likely to have received job promotions in the past year. The survey also indicated that users with certifications and higher Splunk proficiency earn almost 131% more than their peers.

We also learned that 72% of those surveyed felt confident in their career resilience and that Splunk proficiency is key to accelerating their professional journey.

Employer Recognition and Market Competitiveness

Splunk's impact goes beyond individual careers, extending to organizational success.

3.pngAn astounding 86% of respondents attributed their organization's strengthened competitive position to the utilization of Splunk. 

Respondents also attributed being more Splunk proficient with feelings of greater self-worth and value in their profession and career. The survey further revealed that professionals with high Splunk proficiency were 60% more likely to feel valued by their employers.

The 2023 Splunk Career Impact Survey highlights the undeniable positive impact that Splunk proficiency and certification have on practitioners’ career and professional advancement.
