Happy Pride Month, Splunk Community! 🌈

In the United States, as well as many countries around the world, June is dedicated as Pride Month for the LGBTQ+ community. This month marks the annual celebration and commemoration of the LGBTQ+ community's history, achievements, and ongoing struggle for equality and acceptance.

Belonging is at the heart of Splunk’s unique and inclusive culture and at the center of both the experiences of our employees as well as those of the Splunk Community! Splunk is a place where the multiplicity and richness of our diverse identities (what we refer to as our Million Data Points) are welcomed, celebrated, and elevated. A place where individuals of all backgrounds can be their best, most authentic selves, engage in meaningful and purposeful work, achieve their professional ambitions, and thrive.

Our community is made stronger when it's able to draw on people's diverse backgrounds and vast, varying strengths. This is why we are ecstatic to be amplifying the work Splunk is doing throughout the month of June to celebrate our vibrant LGBTQ+ community, bring awareness to the current social and political threats to LGBTQ+ inclusion and equality, and ensure the Splunk Community continues to be a place of safety and belonging for all.

In the face of ongoing unpredictability and the emergence of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in various parts of the world, it becomes increasingly important to remain steadfast in our support for equality. These regressive measures pose significant threats to the hard-won rights and protections that LGBTQ+ individuals have fought for and deserve. By staying resilient, we can continue advocating for equal rights, challenging prejudice, and fostering inclusivity.

This is why it's so important that companies ensure their culture of belonging and support for their LGBTQ+ employees and community members reaches beyond the month of June. You're likely to see a lot of rainbow-fied logos showing up today, but take note of which brands continue showing up come July 1st.

To highlight some exciting company-wide actions — we are proud that Splunk recently updated all leadership bios to include pronouns on the Splunk website, achieved a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index and signed on to the Business Coalition for the Equality Act

Pride Month serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by the community and the ongoing work required to ensure equality. It provides a platform for LGBTQ+ individuals to celebrate their identities, showcase their achievements, and inspire others to embrace diversity. Moreover, Pride Month acts as a unifying force, strengthening solidarity and support within the LGBTQ+ community and its allies.

One small, supportive action you can take right now is to add your pronouns to your Splunk Community profile and Slack profile. We also recommend digging into the history of Pride Month, which began in 1970 on the first anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising.

Cheers and Happy Pride, y'all!
