Splunk Platform Upgrade Readiness App is running too slow

I am planning to upgrade Splunk 7.2 to Splunk 8.0.
The Splunk Platform Upgrade Readiness App is taking too much time to scan $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/ directory.
It's been more than 8 hours and it has scanned 3 apps only.
I think Splunk Platform Upgrade Readiness App is not able to scan some apps.

Has anyone else faced a similar situation?

Hello Sudhir, please try the following:

  1. Extend the Splunk Web Session timeout (usually set to 1h) to 2h. This is in Server settings > General settings. If the scan takes longer than the timeout value set here, the scan will terminate.
  2. If you have upgraded to Splunk 8.0, then please try the latest version of Splunk Platform Upgrade Readiness App (version 2.1.0). It will run faster and will provide you updates on what file is being scanned on the app GUI. If you're able to run Splunk 8.0 in python 3 mode, then the scan will also run faster.
  3. Scan a smaller subset of apps at a time.

If you still run into issues, then please let us know via email above. Please include list of apps that you're having issues with.

Thank you!

Hi Sudhir, can you please email python27-eol@splunk.com to describe your situation and the apps it's getting stuck on? Thanks.
