How to check JMX server connection in Linux machine

Hi,

I have my Splunk Add-on for Java Management Extensions installed on a Linux machine. I have to monitor a JMX remote server which is also in Linux. As suggested for Windows to check the connection through jconsole, how can I check the connection between these two Linux servers.

Could anyone please help me on this.

Hi @akarivaratharaj,

First you can check connectivity between Linux machine on which you installed Splunk Add-on for Java Management Extension to Linux machine on which JMX server is running using command telnet <LINUX JMX Remote server hostname/ip> <JMX port>

Here I am assuming that you have installed Splunk Add-on for Java Management Extensions on Splunk Enterprise not on Splunk Universal forwarder because this add-on require python to run so you need to install this Add-on on Splunk Enterprise.

Server on which Add-on is installed you need JRE as well, please refer doc http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/AddOns/released/JMX/Hardwareandsoftwarerequirements and after that if you follow same document for installation and configuration on next page it will easy to configure this add-on.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Harshil
