Hi, I would like to see a log of when and by whom the ACS API was called. I thought I could check the “_internal” index in Splunk Cloud, but I couldn't. Is there any way to get the ACS API logs?

I made a savedsearch with a simple search in it.  As a condition I selected  "if number of events" "is greater than" with the value "0" although no events are selected the alert is triggered and an email is set. Does anyone else also have this problem?  There is a workaround to use "if condition is met" but it doesn't seem logical to me that the option "if number of events" doesn't work properly.

I maintain IPinfo's Splunk App: https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/4070 Our customers have recently reported that our application doesn't work when Splunk Enterprise Security is enabled. For context, our application uses one of two modes to interact with our data: 1) queries our API directly 2) downloads our datasets locally using a public HTTPS endpoint The failure only happens in the second mode, when we have to make REST calls to coordinate the download of our data. One key finding in my early investigation is that our Splunk application communicates using raw non-SSL-verified HTTPS requests (i.e. using the requests Python library with verify=False), authenticated by session keys. Splunk Entreprise Security seems to prevent these types of communication. To bypass this restriction, I converted everything over to the Splunk Python SDK, which bypasses all of these SSL issues. I quickly realized that, to leverage the Splunk Python SDK in all scenarios and with consistency, it would just be easier to use bearer tokens throughout, so the second change I made was leveraging bearer tokens for REST communications. Despite these two changes, the application still doesn't work with Splunk Entreprise Security enabled. It works without a problem when it is disabled (for example, when testing in the Docker Splunk dev environment). I've also tried to build a simple debug handler based on splunk.rest.BaseRestHandler. When I try to call it directly with Splunk Entreprise Security enabled, I get the following error: ERROR - HTTP 500 Error starting: Can't load script "/opt/splunk/etc/apps/ipinfo_app/bin/debug_endpoint.py" -- Error starting: Can't load script "/opt/splunk/etc/apps/ipinfo_app/bin/debug_endpoint.py" I haven't been able to track this particular error in Splunk forums or other forums on the Internet.  If anyone has insight on this problem, I would appreciate any help. Thank you!

In Securonix's SIEM, we can manually create cases through Spotter by generating an alert and then transferring those results into an actual incident on the board. Is it possible to do something similar in Splunk? Specifically, I have a threat hunting report that I've completed, and I'd like to document it in an incident, similar to how it's done in Securonix. The goal is to extract a query from the search results, create an incident, and generate a case ID to help track the report. Is there a way to accomplish this in Splunk so that it can be added to the incident review board for documentation and tracking purposes?

Hi splunk team,  I have a question about how to extract the key-value pair from json data. Let's say for example I have two raw data like this:   # raw data1: { "key1": { "key2": { "key3": [ {"data_value": {"aaa": "12345", "bbb": "23456"}} ] } } } # raw data 2: { "key1": { "key2": { "key3": [ {"data_value": {"ccc": "34567"}} ] } } }     how can I extract the key-value results in all the data_value, to be a table as:   node value aaa 12345 bbb 23456 ccc 34567       I current have a splunk query that could do part of it:   ```some search...``` | spath output=pairs path=key1.key2.key3{}.data_value | rex field=hwids "\"(?<node>[^\"]+)\":\"(?<value>[^\"]+)\"" | table node value pairs   but this only gives me the result of all the first data, result would look like below, that ignore the data of  "bbb":"23456". Please give me some advice on how to grab all the results, thanks!   node value pairs aaa 12345 {"aaa": "12345", "bbb": "23456"} ccc 34567 {"ccc": "34567"}

Hi All, Trying to configure an alert that runs on the first Sunday only of every month, specifically at 9:30am. I put this as the cron expression: 30 9 1-7 * 0 If I'm reading the documentation correctly, that should be it. However, the alert appears to be running every Sunday of every month instead of just the first Sunday of every month. Am I doing something wrong? Can't figure it out.... Thanks!

Hello, Below is a sample for a single message from Proofpoint log. It looks simple, but I am struggling to write a query to pull sender (env_from value), recipient(s) (env_rcpt values) and IP address. As far as I understand X and S have the same values for given single message in the logs and will change from message to message. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have ESX hosts sending logs to rsyslog and then being ingested in Splunk.  Originally, I configured to ingest all logs (my linux servers and ESX) into one index called linux. Later, I created new index called "esx" and modified the inputs.conf on my rsyslog server to reflect in stanzas for all the esx hosts and esxvcenter (added index = esx) and restarted Splunkforwarder.  However, it looks like, I am getting data in both indexes, linux and esx.  I have checked all possible inputs.conf on my rsyslog server but can't find anywhere that directs ESX logs to "linux" index.  Any help to troubleshoot the issue would be appreciated.

Hello. I noticed on a U/F, "Splunk destroying TcpOutputClient during shutdown/reload" as a level INFO and happens 4 or 5 times a minute for each of the 3 indexers. The U/F has been running for quite some time and is not in a shutdown/reload situation and I am receiving events both _internal and OS data from the TA_Splunk_nix  from it. Is destroying a connection a normal message and what would cause that? I can't seem to find anything online about this message.
