Hey everyone! We had some great questions during this Tech Talk in June.  Recapping for all! Q: The documentation I read indicates that the ODBC driver is for Windows only. Are there plans to make an OSX version? A: Yes! We are actively working on OSX support. We don't have an ETA at this time but do stay tuned for updates!   Q: Is the ODBC driver available for splunk cloud? A: Yes! The ODBC driver is available for Splunk Cloud 7.3 and higher   Q: What type of Splunk instance is this? Full Splunk Enterprise or Heavy forwarder? A: The ODBC driver is installed on the Windows environment where the BI Tool (in this case Tableau) is installed   Q: Where are the ODBC credentials stored? Are they encrypted? A: The credentials are actually your Splunk login credentials   Q: how to connect to splunk cloud ? A: It's the same process to connect to Splunk Cloud 7.3 ! In the installation process, just point to your Splunk Cloud instance.   Q: What about ad-hoc queries for visualization exploration? For example, I may need to reduce my fields because the visualization won't fit. Is there a back and forth with a saved query, or can I do an ad-hoc Splunk query in tableau leveraging the new ODBC driver? A: The ODBC driver only supports Saved Searches, and not ad-hoc queries. That means you'll need to update the Saved Search to update the query.   Q: does the ODBC driver need to be installed on a Search Head? A: No, the ODBC driver is installed on the Windows environment where your BI Tool is installed.  In the installation process, just point the SHC you want to use.   Q: Is there a PowerBI server driver also? A: Yes, the ODBC driver also works with PowerBI. Check out the Splunk Docs for details on how to set that up. https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/ODBC/3.0.1/UseODBC/PowerBI    Q: Do you think the ODBC driver could be used to move data to Azure DataLake A: We haven't tested that specific use case.

Hey everyone! We had some great questions during this Tech Talk in May.  Recapping for all! Q: What ML toolkit is being used on the demo? A: MLTK 5.2   Q: How could I use machine learning for sets of data that start at different times each day, for example if I wanted to monitor my heart rate on a bike ride every day, but I start my ride at different times each day. I want to predict my future fitness levels based on my improved heart rate A: If this activity is once a day, then do a span=1 day , and move ahead with forecasting   Q: How to know what best model and algorithm to be used on my use case since there are so many available? A: Smart Assistant comes with the best algorithm suited for the use case. if you're not a data scientist, you don't need to choose from the available options..just use the new smart assistant   Q: Do you provide special service that can help us guide our own use cases? A: Check this out : https://www.splunk.com/en_us/software/splunk-enterprise/machine-learning.html#MLTK-FAQ   Q: Do you have use case using ITSI and Machine Learning together? A: ITSI has predictive analytics which uses MLTK.   Q: Will Splunk come up with a machine learning certificate in the future? A: There is a data analytics course using Machine learning in Splunk today and it comes with a certification   Q: Is it compatible with Splunk Enterprise version 7.3.3? A: No..you have to be on Splunk 8.0 and above but forecasting and outlier detection is available in MLTK 4.5 which is compatible with 7.3.3   Q: How to find out the Threshold frequency for Outlier detection. A: Its an output from algorithm..Look at density function algorithm docs in Splunk MLTK Q: What is the maximum amount of data (csv, kv, etc.) that the MLTK has been tested with? A: Please check the MLTK performance app for algorithm reports

Hey everyone! We had some great questions during this Tech Talk in May.  Recapping for all! Q: Are the features discussed and presented only available in the Cloud version of Splunk? We have the product on premise. A: Only some of them. Analytics workspace is available pre-installed in Enterprise on-prem starting 8.0 Follow up Q:  Thanks, I will check tomorrow to see what version we have installed. Unless I can see it when logged in. If so, share that in an answer in the presentation or to me directly. A: If you are on a pre-8.0 version - checkout Metrics Workspace on Splunkbase for those versions. Analytics Workspace is the next gen of Metrics Workspace App.
