Splunk Search

Performing real-time search on new data only

Hello,

I was wondering if there's a configuration somewhere in Splunk where it would make my continuous real-time search to be performed only at the chunk of log data that has not been searched before.

So, for example, if the previous search has searched up to line 100 of a specific log file, is there a way to configure it so that the next search would start at line 101?

Thanks

real-time search only ever runs against data as it comes into Splunk. If you stop a RT search, any data that came in during the stop can not returned during a subsequent run. That's a fundamental part of the real-time nature. Of course, it could be retrieved using a historical search, but there isn't anything to track this.
