Unable to upload log files in splunk enterprise

I install splunk trial version for learning purpose of the platform. I tried uploading few sample log such as DNS & FTP yesterday & it got uploaded & I did my analysis. But today when I am trying to upload http or ssh log whose file size is small, so file should not be of any concern. I am continuously getting "Upload failed with ERROR : Read Timeout". Its a gz file & I think that also should not be of any concern because I uplaoded DNS & FTP gz file successfully yesterday. Please help me with solution. I am new to splunk.

I would recommend trying :

1) Since you said size is small, try untarring (unzipping) it to a log file then try again.

2) if above doesn't work, try putting file into filesystem and input with continuous monitoring using its native path.
